Family Support Group

Family.png

Families need support to navigate the complicated journey towards accepting and affirming their child’s identity. They need support as cisgender, straight people learning about LGBTQIA+ identity. We provide that through our monthly support groups for parents and family members at any stage of acceptance, creating a safe space where they can ask questions, express grief, anger and confusion without fear of shaming.

Do you want to give back and volunteer your time as a Support Group Facilitator? Sign up here to apply for training to learn how to facilitate our Peer-to-Peer Support Groups.

Our groups are led by volunteers who are themselves LGBTQIA+ or parents and allies, and are intended to provide peer led support. While guest experts may be invited to speak on certain topics, we do not provide advice or medical information. Topics may vary, the focus of the group is to learn to support and affirm your child and/or loved ones.

Desi Rainbow is currently only able to serve folks who live primarily in North America. As a mostly volunteer-operated organization, our capacity is limited. If you live outside of North America, please check out our resources page for other organizations who may be better equipped to meet your needs: www.desirainbow.org/resources/
